A
premier college of Ranchi University with B++ grade accreditation
by NAAC, Marwari College came into existence in the year
1963 through the sincere efforts of Marwari Shiksha Trust
to facilitate higher education among the young and promising
students of society, especially the tribes and the downtrodden.
Since its birth the college has grown beyond the expectations
and aspirations of the people and the society. From time
to time it has risen to the occasion to cater to the needs
of the youth, society and the state. So, from the single
objective of imparting higher education its objectives
now are multi pronged and multidimensional.
The college starting from the building of Marwari High
School Campus, Ranchi has now two campuses covering an
area of 5 acres which is located in the Capital town of
Jharkhand. It was recognized under 2 (f) by UGC in the
year 1968 and made a constituent unit of Ranchi University
in the year 1980.. |

As we believe that Co-curricular activities
and Extra-Curricular activities are essential for personality
development , to enthuse civic responsibilities we organise
the following events regularly :
I. National festivals are celebrated with full respect to
generate and promote love and honour for the Nation and respect
for our Freedom Fighters and National Leaders;
II. Cultural programs on various occasions of regional and
national importance are organized to inculcate respect for
our cultural and cultural heritage and to preserve it;
III. The whole college family showed its solidarity with the
victims of national calamity like Tsunami or Quakes in Gujrat
or Cyclone in Orissa to strengthen the cause of humanity ;
IV. Students and teachers of NCC & NSS unit and teachers
visit villages to educate them about socially harmful practices
like the taking of haria, dian pratha etc There are awareness
programmes about the prevention of socially harmful diseases
like Malaria, Filaria, TB, AIDS, etc.
V. Organized group discussion, Quiz , Debate , competitions
etc.
VI. Organized National And State Level Seminars on various
burning issues of national and international importance like
pollution control, deforestation, watershed management, child
labour, medicinal plant etc. The College has also organized
workshops on personality development. The college publishes
its Annual Magazine Aayam highlighting its activities
and achievements. It publishes articles and write ups from
students and teachers, thus encouraging their writing skills;
VII. The college celebrates an Annual Function every year
in which students take part in cultural programmes. In this
function Prizes, medals and certificates are given to those
students who excel in NCC, NSS, games and sports and in curricular
activities by invited dignitaries to promote these curricular,
co-curricular and extra-curricular activities among them.
The working days of the college is about 250 days and teaching
days of the college is about 200. The library wprks for about
250 days per year and for eight hours daily to facilitate
the students in pursuing their study.
At present Dr. Jawed Ahmed, a well-known scientist in Botany,
heads the College. His dynamic personality and farsighted
vision has brought many laurels and achievements to this College.

There
is a total of 24 Departments in the college to offer UG programmes
in the faculties of Arts, Science, Commerce and a P.G. programme
in the faculty of Commerce. The college offers 17 Vocational
Courses including Add On courses. There are about 17,000 students
studying in this College. The size of the courses offered by
this college and the number of the students studying in this
College gives it the stature of a mini University.
The College has four Computer Laboratories, eight Laboratories
for General Courses, one Central Computer Center, one Reading
room where journals and standard reference books are available.
An Online Library is also operating where teachers also can
pursue their research work.
The real strength of a college lies in its faculty members.
This college has a strength of 95 Permanent Teachers. Apart
from this 15 teachers are on contractual basis. About 6 teachers
were Resource Persons at National Seminars. Some teachers have
also tendered consultancy services to Universities and government
institutions. Three of them have received International Awards
for their outstanding contribution. About 4 Major Projects and
25 Minor Projects were awarded to the teachers of this college.
Teachers work here with full devotion and dedication and act
in a team spirit.It is worth mentioning the appreciation of
the NAAC team for the teaching community of Marwari College
Ranchi, in its Overall Analysis the college
has an excellent teaching community, many of whom are D.Litt.
and Ph.D holders and have pursued research and have publications.
Almost all the teachers are handling more than their load of
classes. This reflects how sincere and dedicated our teaching
personnel are. It has also resulted in progression of students
to higher education and employment. About 100 students have
passed the Civil Service Examination, 6 have qualified in NET
(UGCCSIR) and there are as many successful students in
IT sector. Many vocational students qualify in the Campus Interview
held in the college. Thousand of students have received merit
scholarship.
This college has the privilege of pioneering and steering Vocational
Courses in the state. It has shown the way to other colleges
to follow and has achieved tremendous success in the placement
of students. It has acquired a good infrastructure for the Vocational
Courses.The College has three websites (one of which was specially
for all Vocational courses running under Ranchi University,
Official Website of Ranchi University, Ranchi) and another one
exclusively for this college. One can get the entire information
regarding this College and its rules and regulations on this
website. Download facility is also available for obtaining admission
and examination forms. Online submissions of forms are additional
benefits, which our students enjoy. Login facility is also available
to our teaching and non-teaching staff for their personal access.
The College has 24 hour Internet Connectivity, with 2-MBPS Broadband
connectivity from BSNL. It is under process to get fixed IP
Address for unlimited web presence with an aim to conduct online
services for the benefit of college administration as well as
learners. It has 128-KBPS ISDN backup Line for Internet services.
The Administrative Block is equipped with WiFi facilities. The
College has Intranet with two IBM e-Server. All the Departments
are connected through LAN, VOIP . The College has modern tools
and the necessary infrastructure e.g computers, laptop, LCD
projector, OHD projector etc. to support higher education in
an effective and fruitful manner. The College has 129 non-teaching
and technical staff, out of which 37 staff are on contractual
basis to assist in the successful functioning of the offices
, library and labs.
The college has an Employment Cell with a Placement Officer
to coordinate with industries and private companies to ensure
almost 100% placement for our students. There is also a Womens
Cell to give special attention to look into womens cause
so that their participation in nation building can be increased.
It conducts a Martial Art Programme to prepare the girls for
self-defense and to invigorate them to deal against unsocial
elements and odd situations.
It has a Grievance Redressal Cell to settle and remove the grievances
of students as well as staff of this college, so that there
is no anguish and resentment and a pleasant atmosphere prevails.
A Canteen has been started in the Boys Section and another
is under preparation in Womens Section to provide affordable
and healthy refreshment to the students
The college has two units of NCC and NSS separately for boys
and girls which trains the cadres to serve society in case of
any need. These units have several achievements to their credit
and have bagged many medals. Two of the cadets had participated
in the Republic Day Parade at New Delhi and received the Sahara
Award of Rs. 12,000/-.
The College has two Study Centre of IGNOU, out of which one
is exclusively for PG students to facilitate those students
who are deprived of general education due to various reasons.
In this way the college is instrumental in spreading the light
of education to those people who are living in remote areas
and are not capable of pursuing their education.
The college has about 39% girl students, 15% SC, 30% ST&
11% OBC students, which shows our concern for these weaker sections
and our sincerity towards them. The College has an Online Old
Boys Alumni Association [MAROBA] through which our students
are attached with the development of the College. Their suggestions
and assistance also benefit this College. Their services and
position in society become a torchlight for the fresher and
a solace to the teaching fraternity.
Health is Wealth. So for having sound mind and sound
body there is a stress on sports and Yoga. The college has a
Sports In charge and good facilities for physical education
with a full time PTI . The College is adequately equipped with
all kinds of sport Equipment. The College organizes athletic
meets, games and sports regularly at college ,University as
well as state level. Its achievements in this field also is
remarkable. It remained Champion In Volleyball for 5 years.
25 students participated at State level in Volleyball, 12 participated
at Regional level and 5 participated at National level and won
medals in various events. |
